On Tuesday, February 12th, 2013, Representative Rick Nolan (DFL-Minnesota) and Representative Mark Pocan (D-Wisconsin) introduced the amendment language developed and promoted by Move to Amend, a grassroots organization working to “legalize democracy.” On the 11th, Rep. Nolan joined with two members of the Move to Amend executive committee, Ben Manski and George Friday, in a press conference at the National Press Club in Washington, DC which was covered by ACRONYM TV.
Via ACRONYM TV, watch the coverage of this presser:
The We the People Amendment is now the only amendment language that has been introduced into the current Congress that addresses both the issue of corporate constitutional rights and the doctrine that spending money in campaigns is a form of speech and therefor protected by the 1st Amendment. Because the State of the Union address is scheduled for Feb. 12th, the introduction of this amendment is not likely to receive much, if any, coverage in the MSM.
ACRONYM TV is a project of Dennis Trainor Jr., director of the OWS documentary American Autumn. He is currently working on another documentary on the Move to Amend movement.
